The proposed disposal was discussed at SDC’s Cabinet meeting on 15th July, at which District Councillor Sean Malone presented our case for Small Grains to be transferred to Fawkham Parish Council, rather than being sold for development. We have been working very closely with Cllr Malone on building our case.
Before the meeting, 4 of the 7 Cabinet members met with us at Small Grains, to listen to our points and to see the open space for themselves, which was very helpful.
At the Cabinet meeting, it was unanimously agreed to refer the issue back to the Finance and Investment Committee, as they had requested, for consideration at their next meeting in early September. After that, a recommendation will be made to the next Cabinet meeting, later in September, where decisions will be made on a plot by plot basis.
We will continue to do all that we can to persuade SDC that transferring Small Grain to FPC is the best way forward.
