PARISH COUNCILLOR VACANCY

Fawkham Parish Council is looking to co-opt a new Member onto the Council. This is a voluntary position and would suit someone who has a keen interest in Fawkham and is willing to be actively involved in the local community and represent its interests.

Councillors have three main components to their work:

  1. Decision making – we make decisions at meetings about what activities and actions to support, where money should be spent within Fawkham, etc, and we comment on local planning applications as a statutory consultee. We hold our meetings on the first Thursday of each month (except August), generally for around 1.5 to 2 hours.
  2. Monitoring – we keep an eye on how well things are working and report issues or take action as required.
  3. Getting involved locally – different councillors have different interests and time available, and so getting involved in taking actions in between meetings varies depending on these factors, though we are all keen to get involved locally if we can.

Fawkham Parish Council is also the sole trustee of Fawkham Village Hall and we cover decisions around managing the hall at a short meeting (10-15 mins usually) straight after the PC meeting (our Clerk runs the hall day to day).

More information about the Parish Council can be found on our website: https://fawkhampc.org.uk. If you are interested in this opportunity, please provide us with a brief background about yourself and why you feel you are suitable to be a member of the council.

If you have any questions or would like to find out more, please get in touch.

Applications can be sent via email (fawkhampc@gmail.com) or in writing to the Clerk (Grace Champion, 6 Small Grains, Fawkham, DA3 8NT)

Interviews will be held in late August/early September

Closing Date: 5pm – 17th August
